Euro Area Recorded a Trade Surplus of €164.6 Billion in 2025

The first estimates of euro area balance showed a €12.6 bn surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in December 2025, compared with + €13.9 bn in December 2024. The euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world in December 2025 were €234.0 billion, an increase of 3.4% compared with December 2024 (€226.3 bn). Imports from the rest of the world stood at €221.3 bn, a rise of 4.2% compared with December 2024 (€212.4 bn).

In January to December 2025, the euro area recorded a surplus of €164.6 bn, compared with €168.9 bn in January-December 2024. The euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world rose to €2 937.9 bn (an increase of 2.4% compared with January-December 2024), and imports rose to €2 773.3 bn (an increase of 2.7% compared with January-December 2024).
