Industrial production in Japan increased by 4.4% month-over-month in March 2024, compared with flash data of a 3.8% rise and after a 0.6% fall in the prior month. It was the steepest growth in industrial output since June 2022, largely contributed by motor vehicles (9.9% vs -8.1% in February), production machinery (11.6% vs -3.2%), and electronic parts and devices (9.2% vs 0.2%). Yearly, industrial output tumbled by 6.2% in March, the fifth straight month of contraction and the steepest pace since September 2020.
