The inflation rate in Germany, measured as the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI), stood at +2.1% in January 2026. In December 2025, it was +1.8% and +2.3% in both November and October 2025. Compared with December 2025, consumer prices in January 2026 rose by 0.1%. The inflation rate excluding food and energy, often referred to as core inflation, stood at +2.5% in January 2026.
